No Shame (okay, some “Shame!”) In My Game (of Thrones)

Missing Game of Thrones while it’s on hiatus?  Fear not, gentle viewers!  I give you not one, not two, but THREE chances for your GoT fix, in three different cities this summer!  You can catch my Lyanna Stark and Septa Unella acts in Baltimore in June and DC in July, plus Septa is making a special appearance in the City of Brotherly Love in July for The Philadelphia Burlesque Festival!  Ding ding shame!

And for more weird, wacky fun, I’m thrilled to be working with Astro Pop Events again for America the Game Show in DC and Baltimore in July.  Trivia, games, naked moments in history, and more politically-charged humor than you can shake a…something you can shake at!  Your booty?  I don’t know.  Shake whatever ya wanna shake!

Whedonism, AwesomeCon, and Capital Fringe Festival

PosterMA_web.jpg

I know, I know, I’m super late in updating my gig dates for June!  Things have been delightfully crazy, with lots of exciting shows on the horizon.  First up, this year not only marks six years of Whedonism: A Burlesque Tribute to Joss Whedon, but also the 20-year anniversary of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series.  To celebrate, this year’s Whedonism is all Buffy-themed.  We had a great show last weekend at the Black Cat in DC, and this Saturday the Slayers, Watchers, Scoobies, and Big Bads hit the road to the Ottobar in Baltimore.

Next, Naked Girls Reading DC returns to AwesomeCon with the panel we debuted last year, Nerdlesque: Bringing Fandom to the Burlesque Stage, thanks to the hard work of Alice Darling.  We had a full room and extremely positive responses last year, and we’re looking forward to bringing some new guests, including DC performer Buster Britches and Anja Keister from New York City, producer of D20 Burlesque and co-producer of the International Nerdlesque Festival (which I had the honor of performing in this year!).

Then I’m back with Astro Pop Events, the creators of the infamous Elvis’ Birthday Fight Club, for the riotous patriotic romp known as America The Game Show, in both DC and Baltimore the weekend before Independence Day.

Finally, I’m returning to Capital Fringe Festival with Eclectic Mayhem Productions’ modern burlesque reinterpretation of the first surrealist play, Tiresias’ Tits’.  Rehearsals are underway, and believe me when I say this show is completely ridiculous and strangely heartwarming.

As we slog through these last few weeks of winter, I’ve got a couple of things coming up that I am supremely excited about!  In addition to all of these fantastic shows, I’m pleased to announce that my Septa Unella act has been selected for the 2017 Nerdlesque Festival in New York City April 28th – 30th!  From the website:

“Created in 2014, this festival showcases the best in nerdlesque from across the planet! As the popularity of nerd-friendly burlesque and cabaret rises daily, this festival aims to encourage and foster the development of nerdlesque as an art form and a community.”

Sweet!

Also, after taking a hiatus through 2016, my House of Sweetbottom classic burlesque and live music show returns to the Black Cat on May 19th and December 1st!  I am so excited about the talent I’m bringing to DC for this show, and I hope you’ll join us for one or both!

Cheers,

Cherie

Hello world!

About me:

I’m a Washington, DC based burlesque performer, actress, and model. I have performed with EPIC WIN Burlesque, Naked Girls Reading DC, Tilted Torch, Richmond Burlesque Revue, Cherry Red Productions, and the Coney Island Rock n’ Roll Show, among others. I am a founder and co-producer of the nerdy burlesque production team the Evil League of Ecdysiasts and appeared on the first-ever Nerdlesque Panel at BurlyCon 2012 in Seattle, Washington. I can frequently be found at the Red Palace in Northeast DC’s Atlas District, but I have also performed in Baltimore, MD; Albany, NY; and with Cheeky Monkey Sideshow at the 2011 Sideshow Gathering in Wilkes-Barre, PA. When I’m not performing, producing, costuming, or rehearsing, I refine my plan for surviving the impending zombie apocalypse.

I have a BFA in Theatre and have taken classes with Jo Weldon, Johnny Porkpie, Don Spiro, Trixie Little, Lucy Flawless, Sydni Devereux, Inga Ingenue, Peekaboo Pointe, Dirty Martini, Imogen Kelly, Lux LaCroix, Kristina Nekyia, Julie Atlas Muz, Armitage Shanks, Nasty Canasta, Amber Ray, Deanna Danger, Eric Geoffrey, Reverend Valentine, and Lil Dutch. I have studied a variety of dance forms, including ballet, jazz, and tap, and I’ve dabbled in pole dancing and flying trapeze.

I’m also an experienced stage kitten and stage manager.  I have stage kittened for Albert Cadabra, Gal Friday, Angie Pontani, Neil O’Fortune, and Sticky Buns Burlesque, among others, and I’ve stage managed professional theatre productions.
